At the February 2013 Veterans 4 Veterans Trust fund monthly meeting, the following grant was approved by the eight member board of directors:

A $5,000 grant was to assist the VFW Department of Minnesota with their upcoming program “Ride for Healing” which will be a weeklong event beginning on Memorial Day, May 27,2013 at the Minnesota State Capitol Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and culminate on June 1, 2013 in the Brainerd Lakes Area with a two day rally. Four teams of motorcycle riders will depart the capital and make their way to the four corners of the state and then travel to Brainerd Minnesota where the Vietnam Traveling Wall will be erected.

The motorcycle riders will make stops at the VFW Posts along the way to hold community events to honor and say a special thank you to the Vietnam Veterans within that community. Over 80 communities throughout the state will be holding Vietnam Veterans recognition rallies over the four day period. Through interactive exhibits and primary source materials, visitors will be able to better understand the profound impact the Vietnam War had on their family members, hometowns, communities and the nation.

The Minnesota Veterans 4 Veterans ( V4V ) Trust Fund is a 501c(19) non-profit organization established as the result of the 2006 sale of Lake Minnetonka Big Island Disabled Veterans Camp. The non-profit organization has eight board members, two veterans each who are appointed by the DAV, VFW, MOPH, and American Legion. The board oversees the funds from the sale of the island to the City of Orono and has a grant application process on their website. Grants are made to organizations serving MN veterans in a way that conforms to the criteria the V4V has documented online.
